SuicideGirl Gamer of the Month: Rambo

Credit: SuicideGirls
The SuicideGirl Gamer of the Month is an interview series featuring a different Suicide Girl each month that is into video games and other geeky things. SuicideGirls.com is an online community-based website that features pin-up style photography sets of models known as Suicide Girls. The sets start with the girls clothed and end with them fully nude. The site is known for promoting "alternative" beauty standards and many models have tattoos, piercings, or other body modifications.

The SuicideGirl Gamer of the Month for November 2019 is Rambo Suicide. Rambo has been a SuicideGirl since 2006 and also currently works as the site's Model Coordinator. I spoke with Rambo about both video games and cosplay.

Where are you from?

I’m from the Central Valley in California, USA.

What first got you interested in video games?

My interest in video games started with my brother and Dad. I remember watching them play NES when I was three or four years old and falling in love! It wasn’t long before I picked up a controller and started playing on my own.

Tell me about your tattoos. How many do you have and where/what are they?

I have about 15 pieces. I have a few on my legs (ankle, thigh, and hip), my stomach, one on my back, and both arms. All of my tattoos hold some kind of meaning or a special memory. I have a squid which represents a certain group of friends, a group of matryoshka which remind me of my late aunt (I also collect them), an Awapuhi that I got while on my honeymoon in Kauai, roses for my mom and brother, a tiffany lamp for my daughter, and a few inspirational pieces that remind me to be strong, take risks, and exercise patience.

What are some of your favorite video games of all time?

I’m quite a retro gamer, so my favorite video games of all time are Zelda: A Link to the Past, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Mario Paint, Kirby’s Dream Land, Donkey Kong 64, Final Fantasy VII, VIII & IX, Tomba, Crash Bandicoot, Mario Party 1, 2 and 3, Pokemon Snap, The Sims, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and Stardew Valley.

Playing anything right now?

I’ve been playing Stardew Valley steadily since its release in 2016. I’m also playing The Sims 4, and replaying Final Fantasy VII for the 100th time.

Is there an upcoming game you are looking forward to playing?

Yes! So excited for Zelda: Link’s Awakening for Switch, the Final Fantasy VIII remaster, and the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII remake!

Are you also into cosplay at all?

I’ve only cosplayed a few times for SDCC and it was a blast! I’ve cosplayed Lara Croft, a Power Ranger, a Dalek, and a Battle Royale school girl.

If you could cosplay any character you wanted without having to worry about actually making the outfit, who would it be?

I would definitely cosplay Tifa Lockhart. She’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

What are better, turn-based RPGs or action-RPGs?

I prefer turn-based RPGs. I like the element of customizable strategy. Button mashing stresses me out, haha.

So it seems you play a wide variety of different video games. Is there a specific genre that you like the most? Is there a genre you don't like at all?

I enjoy RPGs the most, and FPS the least.

One thing people complained about recently in regards to the FFVII remake is that Square Enix made Tifa's boobs smaller. What do you think about this change, or the possibility that parts of the story might be changed?

I think people complaining about a video game character’s breast size is fucking ridiculous. I’ll certainly be sad if the remake comes without some of the charming quirks of the original game, like Cloud’s Wall Market cross-dressing event, Priscilla and her dolphin, or Tifa’s slap-fest with Scarlet. I understand and can respect that the remake will come with changes, but these funky little instances are what contributed to making FFVII such a classic!

What are some of your hobbies outside of video games?

My hobbies outside of video games include board games, reading, cooking, and thrifting.

Where can fans find more of you?
