SuicideGirl Gamer of the Month: Ratt

Why did you choose the name "Ratt"?

My real name is Catalina. When I was in high school, my friends started to calling me Rattalina because of the combination of Rat plus Catalina. This because they saw me like a "rat kid" (in a good way) since I was spending a lot of time playing League of Legends. I liked it because I felt identified with the concept, as I also have rodent-like behavior sometimes haha. For example my herbivore diet or how I sneak out when I need to. I think they're lovely animals. I don't give them a negative connotation as some people do. So I kept the "Rattalina" nickname on internet and IRL, and for SuicdeGirls I choose "Ratt" for short.

Where are you from?

I'm from Valparaíso, a unique and beautiful port-city in Chile.

What first got you interested in video games?

I come from a family full of gamers, haha. As soon as I had the awareness and motor skills to understand video games is when I became interested in them, so since I was about four or five years old. It all started with my grandma's SNES. She had Super Mario All Stars and the DK Country ROMs, and I could spend the entire day playing them.

Also, almost all my cousins and their parents had PC's, and I used to watch them play Diablo together and other strategy or simulation games like Stronghold or The Sims. The older ones were in charge of  distributing and installing video games on the computers to their younger cousins. Of course I couldn't play the same games as them since I was so young, but they let me have a compilation full of arcades so I became a fan of simulators such as MAME and PJ64 which I played A LOT when I was a child.

What are some of your favorite games?

I will always have a special place in my heart for Mario Brothers games. I got obsessed with them in my childhood and for many years they brought together the family for me. It was hours of competing with my cousins in Super Mario Party and Mario Kart, and even more hours discovering the innumerable stages of Super Mario World, SMB 3, SM 64, and so on.

Talking about more modern games, I just love the God of War franchise. I'm a fan of ancient mythology and the story and adventures of Kratos amazes me, along with the perfect combination in gameplay of action and fighting with thinking and puzzle solving. The icing on the cake is the beautiful soundtrack and graphics that makes them some of my favorite video games.

Playing anything right now?

League of Legends as always, haha. But I'm also discovering some AMAZING games that I've never tried before, such as Skyrim being the most remarkable. The quality of that game is just over the top.

Who is your favorite champion to play from League of Legends?

I would say Ahri is one of my best champs and she works in almost every meta, at least on solo queue. Plus I just really like her as character too, so I really enjoy playing with her.

Are you into cosplay?

Yes! But I'm not a professional cosplayer or anything. I just had an opportunity to make two costumes so far.

What are some characters you have cosplayed?

KDA Kai'sa and Katarina, both from League of Legends.

Any plans for future cosplays?

I've been thinking about it a lot recently, and I really really want to keep doing cosplay. Especially ero-cosplay. But nothing well planned as of yet.

Tell me a little bit about the different tattoos that you have?

My first tattoo was a Tarot card, "The wheel of fortune," because I feel related to. My favorite tattoos are on my left arm; there's a big Ryuk, one of my favorite characters from Death Note. I like the fact that all the whole story basically started just because he was bored. I feel like it is a demonstration of how insignificant we are as human beings and how easily we can be corrupted by power. On my forearm I have a heart with my hand and a cat paw holded. It's a representation of the bond between me and Rufián, my cat partner, at the same time it stands for my respect to animals and the love we should show to them through vegan lifestyle.

How long have you been a vegan?

I cut back on meat in October, 2016. Then when I did more research, I went vegan in February of 2017 until today.

What are some of your favorite vegan meals?

A well done seitan steak will always be my first choice. I also really like scrambled tofu, and all kind of vegan desserts. I think vegan sweets are much better than omni-ones because they’re lighter, you can feel the real flavor of ingredients instead of only dairy-fat-taste and sugar haha.

How long have you been a SuicideGirl and what first got you interested in the site/community?

I became SG at the end of 2019, when my debut set “Flowers in the Chamber” went SOTD (set of the day) in December. I first became interested when I was much younger, at the age of 15-16. I discovered the company through some Chilean models like Aymi and Violetrose, who I admired a lot. I’ve always been into the search of freedom of female bodies and sexuality, and I felt that SG was a expression of that, combined with a original and gorgeous aesthetic which captivated me.
