Where are you from?

I am from the Netherlands.

How long have you been cosplaying?

I started in June of 2013 so I have been cosplaying almost for seven years.

How did you first become interested in the hobby?

I watched a lot of anime when I was younger. I started searching for certain characters and I saw people doing cosplays of them. Shortly after that there was an event nearby so I went with a friend and I was amazed by all the cosplayers. I wanted to be like that as well, haha.

What are some of the characters you have cosplayed?

I cosplay a lot of different characters. I love doing Disney cosplays (Aurora, Ariel, Anna and Rapunzel), but I also love video game (2B, Samus and Ahri) and comic cosplays (Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Mary Jane Watson and Black Cat).

Any future plans for cosplays?

I have way too many plans, but I would love to make my dream cosplay happen (River Spirit Nami made out of Dragon Skin silicone)

What are some of your favorite conventions?

I love Gamescom and Elfia. Both are very different, but I love the gaming industry and fantasy scene, Plus I love mead!

What's the furthest you have ever traveled for a con?

For now I would say Germany (Gamescom) which is two and a half hours away by car.

Favorite movie? Video game? TV show? Band?

My favorite movie is Tangled.
My favorite Video Game: The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
My favorite TV Show: The Witcher on Netflix.
My favorite band: I don't have one hahaha.

If you don't have a favorite band, do you have a favorite genre of music?

I mostly listen to pop music, but it also depends on my mood! I listen to the Jonas Brothers a lot now.

What do you think is the hardest part about cosplaying?

Feeling the right connection with the character. Even when you love a certain character a lot, you can still have no connection at all when cosplaying as him/her.

Is there a difference in how you prepare for cosplaying for a photo shoot vs cosplaying at a live convention?

Yes! My cosplay has to be perfect for a convention, and I don't mind if a certain item is taped to my body for a photoshoot.

What advice would you give to someone new just starting out in the hobby?

Do not give up and start off easy. Every one of us started somewhere and you don't want to spend way too much money on a hobby if you only end up doing it for one day.

Tell me something about yourself that nobody knows.

I love staying at home and doing nothing at all. I enjoy dressing up for parties, photoshoots and cosplay, but I love wearing my comfy clothes at home.

Q&A Interview with Bura-chan Cosplay

Where are you from?

I'm from Poland!

When did you first start cosplaying?

It was in March 2014 during Intel Extreme Masters in Katowice, Poland.

How did you first become interested in cosplay?

My friend told me that it would be fun to have costume on during a gaming event, so I did some quick research on League of Legends champion skins. I choose the simplest one for me to make - Prom Queen Annie. After that first convention I became so fascinated about it that I never stopped! It's a fantastic hobby.

What are some characters you have cosplayed?

Many of them is from League of Legends - Janna, LeBlanc, Yasuo, Syndra and Karma. I'm also very into Love Live so I made various costumes of idols like Eli and Riko.

Who is your favorite LoL champion to play as? Who do you hate playing against the most?

I love to play as Jinx, Neeko, Janna and Illaoi. But I really hate to play against Yasuo, Zed, Fizz and Talon - they are so annoying to play against...

Any future plans for characters?

In the near future I'll make some more idol stuff, but I'm planning to focus on other anime positions than just Love Live. For example, Kohaku from Dr. Stone, Sistine from RokuAka and Elsa from Frozen 2.

What is your favorite part of cosplay?

Happiness! Sharing the joy of being a fictional character in the real world is something unbelievable. The smile on people faces when they see their favorite character or all those little children who think you're real a superhero or princess - it's priceless.

What about the hardest part?

For me it's motivation and finding time to make my own costumes. Since I live away from home and I cannot make costumes here, I became less active in cosplaying. It hurts, but it's the way of life. Besides that, I really hate making shoe and plushy patterns and working with fur.

Favorite movie? Video game? TV show? Band?

For movies it's not that easy to pick but let's say Zootopia and The Hunger Games. But choosing from anime I like Akagami no Shirayuki-hime the most. My favorite video games are League of Legends and the Tomb Raider series. I usually don't watch TV, but if I do, I really like to watch Hell's Kitchen or Master Chef. And my favorite band is Linkin Park.

I love Linkin Park! I was just having a discussion with a friend of mine about old school Linkin Park vs newer songs. What are some of your favorite songs of theirs? (I think mine is Papercut).

My first song ever was Numb but I started to love them after hearing Castle of Glass for the first time on the radio. Since then I have my top four favorite songs which are: New Divide, Roads Untraveled, Iridescent, and One More Light. But that doesn't mean that I don't like their older songs, too!

Tell me something about yourself that nobody knows.

I can eat almost everything with ketchup.

Have you ever tried Steak with Ketchup? I've heard a lot of people love that!

Just a few days ago! And yes - it was tasty. But they are much better with garlic butter!
